Aurélie Ann Figaro
Originally from Port-au-Prince (Haiti), Aurélie Ann Figaro was introduced to ballet and traditional Haitian dance at a very young age alongside her mother, Shérane JP Figaro. In order to consolidate her training in classical dance, she joined the Académie du Ballet Métropolitain from 2015 to 2019. Very rigorous and eager to learn, Aurélie gradually appropriates the gestures of various Haitian rhythms, which allows her to perform in creations by the company Aurée Danse-Création from 2016. In the summer of 2019, she participated in the intensive internship at the School of Toronto Dance Theater where she worked alongside Rosemary James, Darryl Tracy and Julia Sasso. The same year, she joined the École de Danse Contemporaine de Montréal, at the age of 16, with a view to obtaining her diploma of collegial studies (DEC) in dance-interpretation in 2022. Aurélie had the chance to receive teaching from Marc Boivin, James Viveros, Morgane LeTiec, Marie-Ève Lafontaine, Linda Rabbin and Alexandre Morin. She has also worked with choreographers such as Stacey Désilier, Manuel Roque, Jessica Serli and José Navas. On the eve of her entry into the professional market, Aurélie aspires to become a multidisciplinary performer in Montreal and abroad as well as to frankly deepen her knowledge of the ancestral dances of Haiti.
